The 8th Lord for Sagittarius Ascendant: Moon
8th house = Cancer · lord Moon
With Sagittarius rising, the 8th house is Cancer, the 8th sign counted from Sagittarius, and Cancer is ruled by the Moon. So for Sagittarius ascendant the 8th lord is the Moon, which rules no other sign, so for Sagittarius ascendant it holds the 8th alone. The 8th is a dusthana.
The lagna lord, Jupiter, counts the Moon a friend, while the Moon counts Jupiter neutral: for Sagittarius ascendant the 1st and 8th lords do not see each other the same way. The 8th’s matters are sudden change, occult and research and inheritance; with Sagittarius rising they sit in Cancer, a movable water sign that is the 4th of the natural zodiac.
Cancer as the 8th House of Sagittarius Ascendant
Cancer exalts Jupiter, deepest at 5°, so for Sagittarius ascendant Jupiter is exalted in the 8th; it debilitates Mars at 28°, so Mars is debilitated in the 8th.
