The 9th Lord for Virgo Ascendant: Venus
9th house = Taurus · lord Venus · also lord of the 2nd
With Virgo rising, the 9th house is Taurus, the 9th sign counted from Virgo, and Taurus is ruled by Venus. So for Virgo ascendant the 9th lord is Venus, which also rules the 2nd through Libra: one graha holds the 9th and the 2nd together for this ascendant. The 9th is a trikona, and the 2nd classed maraka (with the 7th) and panapara (succedent).
The lagna lord, Mercury, and the 9th lord, Venus, count each other a friend for Virgo ascendant. The 9th’s matters are luck and fortune, father's influence, higher learning and pilgrimage; with Virgo rising they sit in Taurus, a fixed earth sign that is the 2nd of the natural zodiac.
Taurus as the 9th House of Virgo Ascendant
Taurus exalts the Moon, deepest at 3°, so for Virgo ascendant the Moon is exalted in the 9th, and it debilitates none. The house holds Krittika (padas 2, 3 and 4), Rohini (all four padas) and Mrigashira (padas 1 and 2), whose lords are the Sun, the Moon and Mars; Venus rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 3rd holds Scorpio, ruled by Mars.
