Jupiter in the 11th House

Jupiter, a benefic graha signifying children, teachers and gurus, higher learning, dharma, wealth, and the husband in a woman's chart, placed in the bhava of gains, income, elder siblings, fulfilment of desires, friends, networks, aspirations — that pairing is the whole of what Jupiter in the 11th house means before a chart is opened. It is a closer fit than most: the 11th house counts Jupiter among its own natural significators, the karaka it is read through for gains. A significator sitting in the bhava it signifies is read more literally than any other placement, because the graha and the house are asking the same question.

Under Kaal Purush the 11th Is Aquarius

In the natural chart the 11th house is Aquarius, so Jupiter here is in a neutral sign. The bhava answers to Saturn, and the two agree about each other: each counts the other neutral, so nothing in Jupiter’s dealings with the lord of the 11th pulls against itself — the terms on which this bhava delivers income and gains are set by Saturn’s own placement alone. Aquarius is spanned by the third and fourth padas of Dhanishta, Shatabhisha and the first, second and third padas of Purva Bhadrapada, lorded in that order by Mars, Rahu and Jupiter. Jupiter lords Purva Bhadrapada among the three, so Jupiter in the 11th is its own nakshatra dispositor when it falls in that nakshatra’s first, second and third padas — the one arrangement in which nothing at all mediates between Jupiter and this bhava’s income and gains.

• Upachaya. The 11th is one of the four growing houses, where the tradition holds that malefics gain. Jupiter is not a malefic, so the bonus is not Jupiter’s to collect — it is read on ordinary terms in the 11th.

Jupiter’s own preferred bhavas are the 1st, 5th, 9th, 2nd, 11th, and the 11th is among them — Jupiter in a Trikona or aspecting the ascendant is the strongest protection available in a chart. So the classification of the 11th and the disposition of Jupiter point the same way, which is not true of most of the 108 combinations.

Directional strength. Jupiter gains digbala in the 1st, which is a 3/11, the upachaya pairing from the 11th — so in the 11th the directional component of Jupiter’s strength has to be made up elsewhere in the shadbala reckoning.

• Jupiter falls in Capricorn, the 10th — a 2/12, the gain-and-loss pairing from the 11th.
• Bhavat bhavam from the 11th gives the 9th, fortune, dharma, higher education, father, long-distance travel, gurus, philosophy — a Parashari extension, read as Jupiter’s secondary indicator for the same matters.

The body reading. The 11th bhava is shins, calves, ankles and the left ear, while Jupiter governs liver, fat and fat metabolism, the arterial system, thighs and hips; medical astrology reads the 11th for Jupiter where those two overlap, and their not overlapping is as informative as their doing so. When Jupiter Is Actually in Your 11th House

Jupiter occupies only 4 rashis across 2026–2027, so Jupiter transits the 11th house for only 4 of the twelve ascendants in that whole period — Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio lagnas.
