Jupiter in the 2nd House

Jupiter, a benefic graha signifying children, teachers and gurus, higher learning, dharma, wealth, and the husband in a woman's chart, placed in the bhava of wealth, family, speech, food, accumulated assets, early childhood, immediate family — that pairing is the whole of what Jupiter in the 2nd house means before a chart is opened. It is a closer fit than most: the 2nd house counts Jupiter among its own natural significators, the karaka it is read through for wealth. A significator sitting in the bhava it signifies is read more literally than any other placement, because the graha and the house are asking the same question.

Under Kaal Purush the 2nd Is Taurus

In the natural chart the 2nd house is Taurus, so Jupiter here is in an enemy's sign. The bhava answers to Venus, and the two do not read each other the same way: Jupiter counts Venus an enemy, while Venus counts Jupiter neutral — so whichever of the two is the stronger in a given chart changes what the 2nd delivers on savings and wealth, not merely how much of it arrives. Taurus is spanned by the second, third and fourth padas of Krittika, Rohini and the first and second padas of Mrigashira, lorded in that order by the Sun, the Moon and Mars. • Jupiter falls in Capricorn, the 10th — a trine, the most supportive of the distances from the 2nd.
• Bhavat bhavam from the 2nd gives the 3rd, courage, siblings, short travels, communication, hands and arms, neighbours, hobbies — a Parashari extension, read as Jupiter’s secondary indicator for the same matters.

The 2nd bhava is face, mouth, teeth, tongue, throat and the right eye, while Jupiter governs liver, fat and fat metabolism, the arterial system, thighs and hips; medical astrology reads the 2nd for Jupiter where those two overlap, and their not overlapping is as informative as their doing so. Jupiter occupies only 4 rashis across 2026–2027, so Jupiter transits the 2nd house for only 4 of the twelve ascendants in that whole period — Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo lagnas.
