Mars in the 8th House

Mars, a malefic graha signifying younger siblings, land and property, weapons, surgery, engineering, the armed forces, placed in the bhava of longevity, sudden events, inheritance, occult, transformation, in-laws, joint finances — that pairing is the whole of what Mars in the 8th house means before a chart is opened. The 8th house does not look to Mars for its significations though — it looks to Saturn for longevity — so Mars here colours this bhava’s matters without representing them, and the karaka’s own condition has to be read separately from this placement.
