The 1st Lord for Aquarius Ascendant: Saturn
1st house = Aquarius · lord Saturn · also lord of the 12th
With Aquarius rising, the 1st house is Aquarius, the ascendant itself, and Aquarius is ruled by Saturn. So for Aquarius ascendant the 1st lord is Saturn, which also rules the 12th through Capricorn: one graha holds the 1st and the 12th together for this ascendant. The 1st is a kendra and a trikona, and the 12th a dusthana.
Saturn is therefore the lagna lord of Aquarius ascendant itself. The 1st’s matters are personal identity and life direction; with Aquarius rising they sit in Aquarius, a fixed air sign that is the 11th of the natural zodiac.
Aquarius as the 1st House of Aquarius Ascendant
Aquarius exalts no graha in signs.js, so no graha is exalted in the 1st for Aquarius ascendant, and it debilitates none. The house holds Dhanishta (padas 3 and 4), Shatabhisha (all four padas) and Purva Bhadrapada (padas 1, 2 and 3), whose lords are Mars, Rahu and Jupiter; Saturn rules none of them. Opposite, across the chart, the 7th holds Leo, ruled by the Sun.
