The 5th Lord for Aquarius Ascendant: Mercury
5th house = Gemini · lord Mercury · also lord of the 8th
With Aquarius rising, the 5th house is Gemini, the 5th sign counted from Aquarius, and Gemini is ruled by Mercury. So for Aquarius ascendant the 5th lord is Mercury, which also rules the 8th through Virgo: one graha holds the 5th and the 8th together for this ascendant. The 5th is a trikona, and the 8th a dusthana.
The lagna lord, Saturn, counts Mercury a friend, while Mercury counts Saturn neutral: for Aquarius ascendant the 1st and 5th lords do not see each other the same way. The 5th’s matters are children, creativity and arts, romance and higher learning; with Aquarius rising they sit in Gemini, a dual air sign that is the 3rd of the natural zodiac.
