Venus in the 7th House

Venus, a benefic graha signifying marriage, the wife in a man's chart, vehicles, art, music, luxury, hotels, cosmetics, placed in the bhava of marriage, life partner, business partnerships, public dealings, contracts, open enemies — that pairing is the whole of what Venus in the 7th house means before a chart is opened. It is a closer fit than most: the 7th house counts Venus among its own natural significators, the karaka it is read through for the spouse. A significator sitting in the bhava it signifies is read more literally than any other placement, because the graha and the house are asking the same question.

Under Kaal Purush the 7th Is Libra

In the natural chart the 7th house is Libra, so Venus here is in its own sign, with 0°–15° of Libra its moolatrikona. Venus rules Libra itself, so the 7th bhava is its own natural ground and it answers to no other graha for this house’s matters. Libra is spanned by the third and fourth padas of Chitra, Swati and the first, second and third padas of Vishakha, lorded in that order by Mars, Rahu and Jupiter. None of the three is Venus, so Venus in the 7th always reports to another graha at the nakshatra level, and the pada decides which of the three — a finer cut on spouse / partner than the rashi gives, and the reason two people with Venus in the same 7th house read differently.

What the 7th House’s Classification Does to Venus

The 7th is classified kendra (angular); maraka (with the 2nd). Set against Venus, a benefic graha, that classification produces:

• Kendra. The 7th is angular, so Venus here works on a platform — whatever it does shows outwardly in the life rather than staying internal.

The body reading. The 7th bhava is pelvis, lower back, reproductive organs, bladder and the kidneys, while Venus governs kidneys, the reproductive system, the throat, skin lustre and the eyes; medical astrology reads the 7th for Venus where those two overlap, and their not overlapping is as informative as their doing so. A framework for reading a chart, not a diagnosis.

When Venus Is Actually in Your 7th House

Your ascendant decides which rashi is your 7th house, and the ephemeris knows exactly when Venus is in it. Venus covers all twelve rashis inside 2026–2027, so the 7th-house transit happens for every ascendant — what differs is when, and for how long. The longest unbroken stretch in the table below is 65 days, which belongs to an Aries ascendant, for whom the 7th house is Libra. Some of these stretches include a retrograde stint, which is why a few rows carry two spells in the same rashi rather than one.
